Daria Kasatkina is a professional tennis player from Russia who was born on May 7, 1997, in Togliatti, Russia. She is a right-handed player and began playing tennis at the age of six.
Kasatkina first gained attention on the professional circuit in 2015 when she won the junior French Open title. She turned professional later that year and quickly made a name for herself on the WTA tour. In 2017, she won her first WTA singles title at the Volvo Car Open in Charleston, South Carolina, defeating Jelena Ostapenko in the final.
Kasatkina had a breakthrough year in 2018, reaching the final of the Indian Wells Masters, where she defeated four top-10 players, including Venus Williams, Angelique Kerber, and Caroline Wozniacki, before losing to Naomi Osaka.
