Belgian tennis player, world number 36 Elise Mertens became the champion of the WTA-250 tournament in Monastir (Tunisia). In the final match, the athlete beat the 30th racket of the world from Italy, Yasmine Paolini, in two sets, pinning her opponent in the second game. The meeting ended with the score 6:3, 6:0.
The tennis players spent 1 hour and 10 minutes on the court. During this time, Elise Mertens completed one ace, converted six break points (50%) and made three double faults. Yasmine Paolini has one converted break point out of seven.
Let us note that Elise Mertens defended last year’s title as champion of the tournament in Monastir: in the 2022 final, she also beat the Frenchwoman Alize Cornet. In total, this is the eighth victory at WTA tournaments in the career of the Belgian athlete.
