Roger Federer entered the top 10 highest paid athletes in the world according to Forbes

20-time Grand Slam champion, former world No. 1 Swiss tennis player Roger Federer ranked ninth in the ranking of the highest paid athletes in 2023 according to Forbes.

The 41-year-old Swiss, who ended his professional career in September 2022, managed to earn € 86 million between May of that year and March 2023, of which only € 0.090 thousand as prize money for tournaments.

The first place in the ranking was taken by the football player of the Saudi club “Al-Nasr” Cristiano Ronaldo. The 37-year-old Portuguese has earned €123.9m ($136m) over the past 12 months, of which €41.9m (€46m) came from clubs (Manchester United, Al Nasr) and another € 81.9 million ($ 90 million) – various advertising and sponsorship contracts.

Last year’s leader, PSG striker Lionel Messi, earned €118.4 million ($130 million) over the indicated period, of which €68 million ($75 million) was wages. In third place in the ranking of the highest paid athletes of the year is PSG forward Kylian Mbappe. The income of the 24-year-old French striker amounted to € 109 million ($ 120 million).
