Radukanu withdrew from the tournament in Madrid. Tomova will play with Sviontek
British tennis player Emma Raducanu, ranked 85th in the WTA ranking, withdrew from the WTA-1000 tournament in Madrid (Spain) on the day of the first round match due to an injury to her right hand. In it, the athlete was supposed to play against Victoria Tomova from Bulgaria, who entered the main stage of the tournament as a lucky loser.
In the second round, the Bulgarian tennis player will meet with the first racket of the world from Poland, Iga Swiatek. Emma Raducanu, in turn, will drop further in the rankings, as she will not be able to defend last year’s victory in the fourth round, and will leave the top 100.
Earlier, Emma Raducanu at the pre-match conference said only 58 words to reporters in response to 16 questions, after which the WTA representatives completed their communication with the press, saying that this was enough.
