Today, February 14, the third round match of the WTA-1000 tournament in Doha (Qatar) ended. World number one Iga Swiatek from Poland and Russian tennis player Ekaterina Alexandrova met on the court. Swiatek won with a score of 6:1, 6:4
The match lasted 1 hour 30 minutes. Alexandrova made three double faults and did not convert a single break point out of eight. Swiatek completed five serves straight, did not make a single double fault and converted three out of six break points (50%).
Let us remind you that Alexandrova managed to beat Swiatek at the tournament in Melbourne in 2021. The remaining two personal meetings remained on the Polka’s account. Swiatek will now face either Victoria Azarenka or Jelena Ostapenko, depending on who wins the match.
Let us note that the Polish tennis player, the first seed, missed the first round in Doha, and in the second she beat the Romanian Sorana Cirstea.
