American tennis player, world number five Jessica Pegula, said she may miss Roland Garros because her return to training is too slow.
“Hi guys. I want to inform you that I will miss the tournament in Rome and, possibly, Roland Garros. I feel good, but I need to avoid aggravating the injury and resume training as soon as possible,” the athlete wrote on the social network.
30-year-old Pegula has already missed the WTA-1000 tournament in Madrid. The last time the tennis player took to the court was on April 13 in the match of the Billie Jean King Cup (formerly the Fed Cup) with the Belgian athlete Hanne Vandewinkel (6:2, 6:0).
At the tournament in Rome 2023, the American lost in the first round to compatriot Taylor Townsend (2:6, 6:3, 3:6), and at last year’s French Open she reached the third round, where she lost to Belgian Elise Mertens (1:6, 3 :6).
