37-year-old Frenchman Gael Monfils, ranked 140th in the ATP rankings, commented on his victory in the semi-finals of the tournament in Stockholm, thanks to which he became the oldest finalist of the tournament.

“It’s just great. I can tell you guys that I still have fire and passion in me. Hopefully I can last a couple more years. I will try to become the oldest winner of the Stockholm Open,” Monfils said in a post-match interview.

Let us remind you that Gael Monfils beat Laslo Djere (Serbia) with a score of 7:5, 6:2. In the final match, the Frenchman will have to meet 24-year-old Russian Pavel Kotov, who reached the final of the tournament after starting in qualifying. The tennis players had never met each other before.
