24-time Grand Slam champion, world number one, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic commented on the first match in a month and a half.
In the second round of the Masters in Paris (France), Djokovic (1) beat the 31st racket of the world, Argentinean Thomas Martin Etcheverry, with a score of 6:3, 6:2.
“I’m pleased. I think I played well in important moments. Took one more hit and made him feel uncomfortable. I think I kept offering different options on the court. I think that allowed me to break in the first set.
I had slumps in my serve. Some parts of the match were very good, other times I lost my rhythm. But I think it’s normal to get a little out of shape when you don’t take part in official matches for a long time. But this is a victory in two sets over an opponent who is actively progressing.
People around me always say it’s dangerous not to play for so many weeks, and I understand that. I was nervous before the match, even though I have a lot of experience.
